great Hippie music covering artists such as the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, The Band, and many more! The Runnerz are Mike Gallagher (Vocals, guitar) and Ed McCartan (Guitar, vocals) and newest member Steve Herring (Percussion/Vocals). The Rum Runnerz have performed for enthusiastic audiences throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. The Story........ In May of 2007 Ed was in need of a singer , as the person scheduled to perform backed out of the gig last minute, so he called his old friend Mike Gallagher to see if he could fill in. He could. With very little preparation the two old friends hit the stage and played some of their favorite songs. And it was groovin"!. After the show they decided it might be fun to perform some other gigs, and the rest is history....... The Name......... After deciding to book some more work, it was apparent that we needed a name. Now naming a group can be a long drawn out project, and after years in the business the fun had faded. So we sat down with our libation for the evening, Rum, and started to throw names out. None seemed to fit, but in the process ran out of rum and had to run for more. And thus was born the Rum Runnerz........ The Band........ Mike and Ed have been professional musicians for over 20 years each. Mike has performed around the Lehigh Valley and surrounding area as a solo artist and with his band "Me and My Uncle". Ed worked as a Jazz Guitarist and as a sideman to numerous artists including vocalist Patti Austin and bassist Gerald Veasley . For more info on Ed click here |
